Daniel Craig did not go for James Bond role originally

21-Oct-2005 • Bond News

The Daily Mirror (UK) have dug up some old quotes from new 007 Daniel Craig about he didn't go for the role originally.

He confessed five months ago he did not want to play James Bond, saying the role was not challenging enough.

After meeting producer Barbara Broccoli in May, he said: "I never really wanted to do Bond."

Asked about any emotional challenge as Bond, Craig - heavily criticised as the new 007 - replied: "There's not. I want that to change. But I don't know how much of a fight that'd be."

However Cheshire-born Craig, 37, also admitted: "I want to make as much money as I f***ing can!"

A friend said: "He couldn't refuse. But that doesn't mean he's 100 per cent happy."
