Rosamund Pike wins best supporting role award

The 8th annual British Independent Film Awards took place at London's Hammersmith Palais on Wednesday night - reports The Guardian.

Former James Bond girl Rosamund Pike picked up the award for best performance in a supporting role for "The Libertine".



Elsewhere, The Constant Gardener established itself as an early contender for Oscar glory by picking up three awards at last night's British Independent Film awards.

Fernando Meirelles's acclaimed adaptation of the John Le Carre thriller was named best film while its two stars, Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz, took the best actor and best actress awards.
