New Zealand rugby star was up for henchman role

12-Dec-2005 • Bond News

In an article in The Daily Telegraph (UK), rugby star Jonah Lomu is said to have been up for a role as a henchman in a recent James Bond film.

"... Jonah Lomu made his debut for Cardiff. Now he is a real celebrity. Lomu was the first - and only - rugby player to transcend the boundaries of his sport. He was to be the next Odd Job villain in James Bond. He was on nodding terms with Hollywood. He was the biggest, the black-shirtiest and the fastest."

Perhaps New Zealand born Jonah Lomu was up for the role as Mr Kil in 2002's "Die Another Day", which was ultimately played by fellow Kiwi, Lawrence Makoare?
