Pierce Brosnan backs $10m Dylan Thomas film
Irish film production company Merlin Films is teaming up with Pierce Brosnan to make a â¬9 million film about the life of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.
Kieran Corrigan, chief executive of Merlin, said filming was due to begin before the end of March and that he expected to shoot a significant portion of the film in Ireland - reports
The Post.
The film, Caitlin, is a co-production with Welsh company, Salem Film Productions, and tells the story of the traumatic relationship between Thomas and his wife, Caitlin.
Brosnan's production company, Dreamtime, is also backing the project.
Corrigan said he was anxious to begin shooting before April 1, in order to avail of tax breaks in Ireland and Britain under current co-production structures.
After that date, films are no longer entitled to receive tax breaks in both jurisdictions, under new guidelines outlined by the British government earlier this month.
Merlin is also in talks with Epsilon, a German production company, about a â¬40 million project starring American actor Kevin Bacon.
