Belated birthday celebrations for Ursula Andress in Edinburgh

18-May-2006 • Actor News

Former Bond Girl Ursula Andress was in Edinburgh today for belated birthday celebrations - reports the Evening Echo.

The Swiss film star, who turned 70 in March, was guest of honour at the Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith where more than 100 guests gathered to wish her many happy returns.

Andress is perhaps best known for her role has Honey Rider in the first James Bond Movie, Dr No.

Her first scene in the 1962 film saw her emerge from the sea and walk on to the beach in Jamaica under the watchful gaze of 007, played by Scots star Sir Sean Connery.

The event also marked the opening of the new Swiss Consulate General in Scotland which will be based in the capital.

Presiding Officer for the Scottish Parliament George Reid was among the guests at the party.

Andress arrived at the gathering in the original James Bond Aston Martin DB5 which was used in the films Goldfinger and Thunderball.

The car is modified and comes with extras including an ejector seat and machine guns.

Wearing a black Dior dress by John Galliano, the actress was greeted by her son Dimitri Hamlin and his father Harry Hamlin on the red carpet.
