`The World Is Not Enough` stuntwoman bids for Tri- Fitness World Challenge

06-Jun-2006 • Bond News

Proving yourself tough enough to complete Army assault courses and bench press 60 per cent of your own bodyweight is one thing - reports Metro.

Doing so while still looking fabulous in a bikini is a challenge which might trouble even Lara Croft.

Yet that is the task faced by 34-year-old James Bond stuntwoman Sarah Donohue when she becomes the first Briton to compete in the Women's Tri- Fitness World Challenge.

The contest is described as Miss World meets Miss Olympia because contestants must have model looks as well as being able to complete gruelling fitness tests.

Ms Donohue, an offshore powerboat racing champion who appeared in the $1million-a-minute opening sequence of the Bond film The World Is Not Enough, said: 'You have to look good but you also have to be fit as well.

'In the figure section, if you look too muscular or lose any femininity you are marked down because they want to show very fit, attractive females.

'They expect you to keep the grace and elegance of Miss World while pressing, squatting, jumping and throwing yourself over an assault course.'

The Londoner is being helped by former paratrooper Mark Jarvis, who has trained Hollywood stars including Nicolas Cage and Keira Knightley.

The competition, which has been running for seven years, takes place over three days from July 7.

The winner will win contracts with fitness agencies and be featured on the cover of magazines.

'I'm really confident and I think I will get into the top ten but it is so hard,' said Ms Donohue. 'These women can run most men into the ground.'

To become a real-life Lara Croft and qualify as one of the world's toughest women you must:

- Look like Miss World in a bikini without being too muscular
- Do 50 squat jumps on to a 50cm-high box as quickly as possible – about one a second
- Perform a dance and gymnastics routine using skills such as one-handed press-ups
- Complete an army assault course which includes hauling yourself over a 3m-high wall with a rope, as well as hurdles, balance beam and monkey bars
