The Scotsman.
The Edinburgh-born actor joins Dame Judi Dench as A-list representatives of the collaboration between Napier University and Edinburgh College of Art.
Robin MacPherson, the BAFTA-nominated Director of the Academy said: "I'm absolutely delighted that Sir Sean is lending his support to Scotland's first Screen Academy.
"His association will be invaluable to us in marketing the Academy, making sure we continue to attract the most promising students."
Screen Academy Scotland was opened by Chronicles of Narnia actress Tilda Swinton in August 2006 and is one of seven academies designated as UK centres of excellence in film practice education by Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the audio-visual industry.
A number of high-profile figures in the film industry have already given their support to the Academy, including Lynne Ramsay, Alan Shiach, and Douglas Rae.
