Daniel Craig is 2nd most searched for celeb on the internet

24-Nov-2006 • Actor News

James Bond actor Daniel Craig is the second most searched for celebrity among UK web users, according to web analysis firm Hitwise.

The company said that despite controversy surrounding the “blonde Bond”, web users have shown strong demand for information on Craig and his new film Casino Royale.

According to a Hitwise analyst blog, the share of UK internet searches for "daniel craig" soared in the week ending November 18, up 3-fold in a week and up 38-fold over four weeks.

During a four-week period, 17% of searches for "james bond" sent users to the Sony Pictures website, 15% directed people to the unofficial James Bond website and 11% went through to Wikipedia.org.

While Craig may not be happy to learn that he was beaten to the top spot by I’m A Celebrity contestant Faith Brown, he can take comfort in the fact that searches for “James Bond” have overtaken searches for “paris hilton” and “britney spears”.

The top ten list is as follows:

1. Faith Brown
2. Daniel Craig
3. Paris Hilton
4. Britney Spears
5. Belinda Emmett
6. Christina Aguilera
7. George Michael
8. Lil Chris
9. Beyoncé
10. Eminem
