James Bond and the impossibilities of physics in German magazine

13-Mar-2007 • Bond News

Yesterday's issue of the German news magazine "Der Spiegel" featured an article on how a German physics checked the possibilities and impossibilites of the James Bond movies.

According to Professor Tolan of Dortmund University, Bond should have died in "Live And Let Die" as well as in "The Man With The Golden Gun" or "The World Is Not Enough", because the physical effects of his secret weaponary would have had mortal effects in reality.

Interestingly, the airplan stunt in "Goldeneye" might have been possible under certain limited conditions according to Tolan.

In "Casino Royale", the professor (who considers himself an ardent James Bond fan) did not find too much to complain about. The only thing which was "implausible" for Tolan, was Bond jumping off the building site without getting severe knee injuries.

You can download the article for 2 Euros from the magazine's website (German language).
