John Travolta talks of his dance request from Sir Sean Connery

01-Apr-2007 • Actor News

John Travolta has told how he was left shaken and stirred - when Sir Sean Connery asked him for a dance, reports the Daily Record.

Travolta said the Scot was so impressed by his moves in Grease and Saturday Night Fever that he demanded to be taken for a twirl.

The American actor said: "We were at Frank Sinatra's party, having a wonderful time.

"Towards the end of the evening, I was heading home when Sean said, 'And where do you think you're going?'

"I said, 'Oh, I'm leaving now.' And he said, 'Not until you've had a dance with me!"

Travolta, in London to promote his new film Wild Hogs, said his life took a strange turn following his waltz with Princess Diana at the White House in 1985.

He added: "After I danced with her, I became THE hot dance ticket. So Sean and I took to the floor and did a bit of a waltz and a dance - a bit like the scene I have with William H Macy in this new film."

Asked to rate his veteran partner, the Travolta said: "He's pretty good."

But he admitted the Scot was in charge throughout, adding: "I have to say that he is senior to me so I let him lead us round the floor. After all, he is Bond, James Bond."

The Hollywood star, in London to promote new film Wild Hogs, told Ross how he had wanted to play James Bond in Casino Royale.

But British actor Daniel Craig was picked to play the secret agent.

Travolta said: "I wanted to do James Bond but the new guy is awesome, the one I've liked the most since Sean Connery."
