Tap dancer and singer Lionel Blair wants to be a Bond baddie

20-Feb-2003 • Bond News

With Bond 21 still to enter serious pre-production, news on the Bond front is thinning out, as this story demonstrates.

Lionel Blair, 71 year-old singer and tap dancer, says he is "desperate to be an actor as I`ve never really done it before.

"I want to be accepted by the wider public, I don`t want them to see me as just a singer and dancer.

"I want to play villains, people do not expect that of me. I would love to play a Bond villain and I want to be the next Dr Who - I`d play the same way that my favourite Jon Pertwee did."

Lionel starts his acting career in British soap Crossroads later this year, in the hope it will be the launch pad for bigger things.
