Ralf Fiennes tops British poll of who should play 007 after Pierce Brosnan steps down

21-Feb-2003 • Bond News

Ralf Fiennes (star of recent films "Red Dragon", "Spider", "Reflections of Evil") has topped a recent British survey of who should take over the role of 007 after Pierce Brosnan steps down. Fiennes also starred alongside the original Bond - Sean Connery - in the 1998 film "The Avengers.

The 42 year-old British born actor beat the likes of Hollywood favorites Ewan McGregor and Russell Crowe in a poll conducted by Radio Times.

Jude Law, who won another poll held by Total Film, was nowhere to be seen. Pop superstar Robbie Williams, who has often stated he would give everything up for the role, came in a respectable fourth place.

The top results were:
Ralph Fiennes - 31%
Ewan McGregor - 22%
Ioan Gruffudd - 15%
Robbie Williams - 13%
Colin Firth - 11%
Russell Crowe - 8%
