Colin Salmon creates buzz with new series `The Many Worlds of Jonas Moore`
Imagine that you live in a world controlled by video games while the people, creatures and monsters living in it are digital slaves created to amuse the gamers.
Considering how many PS3 and Xbox consoles there are these days, this might not be too hard but it is also the focus for the world's first multimedia novel which comes out later this year.
The Many Worlds of Jonas Moore, by Howard Webster, has got Internet forums buzzing as readers get to contribute to the tale by creating their own animated clips or even make up their own stories for the star character.
They can download video clips featuring newsreel footage or stills imagery to their Macs, PCs or iPods, or even star in their own stories.
Musicians will be able to send in their own soundtracks which can be then be used in the novel.
The story centres on Jonas Moore â the first free-thinking games character on the network.
James Bond actor Colin Salmon stars as Moore, who rides around on his black Triumph motorcycle from online game world to game world.
Webster, a London-based writer, said readers will be able to buy a package and then get a code letting them into a members' area where they can access material allowing them to create their own scenes.
'The basis of the idea came to me a few months ago when I was moving house,' he said.
'The central story and script for episode one was written and directed by me and, if is a success, it will continue into a trilogy,' he added.
