Sir Sean Connery appointed Scotland`s Commonwealth Games envoy

25-Jun-2007 • Actor News

Sir Sean Connery has been appointed Scotland's Commonwealth Games ambassador to help Glasgow land the 2014 event.

Despite being a native of Edinburgh, the James Bond star has agreed to use his fame to back Glasgow's five million pound bid, reports the Scotsman.

Next week, Sir Sean will meet Louise Martin, chairwoman of the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland, to discuss how he can contribute to the effort.

He will be asked to contact delegates from the Commonwealth countries who will decide the winner and appear in a video.
