Actress Rose Byrne happily discusses losing Vesper Lynd role in Casino Royale
Australian actress Rose Byrne, who was one of the finalists for the role of Vesper Lynd in Daniel Craig's debut James Bond film in 2002, has opened up about losing the part.
Now alternating between London and Sydney, where her boyfriend Brendan Cowell (Noise) is based, she still goes to auditions when visiting Los Angeles and will happily discuss the roles she didn't get, such as Vesper Lynd, the improbably stylish accountant opposite Daniel Craig's 007 in Casino Royale.
"It's probably to my detriment, because I should probably present myself in a confident, hard-to-get light, as opposed to being down-to-earth about the whole process," admits Byrne.
"But then again, I ain't starving."
Byrne's next stop is American television, where she'll star alongside Glenn Close in Damages, a legal series that she hopes will match her small-screen favourites: The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Shield.
Eva Green secured the role after it was reportedly turned down by Angelina Jolie and Oscar-winner Charlize Theron.
