Connery is special dinner guest of new Scottish First Minister
Sir Sean Connery was one of the guests at a special dinner hosted by new SNP First Minister Alex Salmond, the politician's spokesman said.
Mr Salmond staged the gathering at his official residence, Bute House in Edinburgh, as part of the celebrations for the opening of the third session of the Scottish Parliament - reports the
Midlothian Advertiser.
The former James Bond star and his wife Micheline were among those present.
Others at the dinner included Holyrood's Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson and Rangers chairman Sir David Murray.
Also in attendance were Kwik-Fit founder Sir Tom Farmer and his wife Anne, and the Stagecoach tycoon Brian Souter and his wife Betty.
Sir Sean is a long-standing supporter of the Nationalists and in the run up to the Holyrood elections Mr Souter announced he was donating £500,000 to the party.
A spokesman for the First Minister said the event took place on Friday evening.
He said: "The First Minister hosted a dinner in Bute House as part of the many events to commemorate the opening of the third session of the Scottish Parliament."
