Sean Connery`s website reported to be sending out unsolicited emails requesting SNP donations

28-Feb-2003 • Bond News

Scottish Online News claim that Sir Sean Connery`s website is sending unsolicited emails seeking cash donations for the SNP.

It is alledged the actor is using his website to ask fans to contribute between £200 and £5,000, or more, to the nationalists` cause.

A message reads: "The Scottish National Party depends on thousands of ordinary people like you, so your support as an individual makes a big difference! Above all, right now we need to get the SNP`s message to as many people as possible who might also want to give their support.

"And you almost certainly know some of them! So most importantly, please think of at least one and as many friends as you can who might also like to hear from me."

After browsers submit their email address they will receive an email from Sir Sean Connery minutes later containing the plea for cash.

The email reads: "Our mutual friend was very helpful and told me that you care about Scotland`s future, and that you might be willing to help. I do hope you can!"

An SNP spokesman, said: "Sean Connery is a famous supporter of the SNP and it is no surprise that he`s looking to encourage people to back independence."
