Bond producer Michael G Wilson backs awards project to support upcoming photographers
James Bond movie producer Michael G Wilson (pictured) is to back a project that will award annual bursaries of up to £20,000 to upcoming photographers - reports
Amateur Photographer.
The awards will help 'talented photographers' produce work that develops and enhances their 'practice and profile', according to the UK-based National Media Museum which is organising the bursary scheme.
Wilson - who is the chairman of the museum's trustees - is one of the project's key 'sponsors'.
Fellow backers include the National Portrait Gallery's Terence Pepper and Simon Crocker, chairman of the John Kobal Foundation.
Greg Hobson, the Curator of Photographs at the National Media Museum, said: 'As part of the museum's ongoing commitment to contemporary photography we are seeking to increase awareness of contemporary photography by promoting the work of emerging photographers.'
The awards will be granted from October 2007.
Applicants are asked to provide a brief written synopsis of an ongoing or proposed project, along with their CV, an example of their work and an application form.
Applicants can be of any nationality provided they are resident in the UK at the time of the award, say organisers.
The closing date for applications is 30 September 2007.
Applicants should contact Polly Fleury at wilsoncentre@hotmail.com for details and an application form.
