1,000ft-long Roger Moore is theme of York Maze this summer (photos)
From Star Trek to Big Ben to the Flying Scotsman, a maize maze prides itself on having a new design every year.
This summer's York Maze (UK) is a tribute to James Bond, with a 1,000ft-long image of Roger Moore - reports the
Northen Echo.
Farmer and maze owner Tom Pearcy said: "As the year is 2007, I thought I'd design a 007 maze. It is also the
30th anniversary of my favourite Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me, starring Roger Moore, so I've featured him."
On hearing that he was being featured, Sir Roger said: "It`s amazing to hear that I`m in a maize maze in York. I absolutely adore sweetcorn and I'd have quite happily chomped my way around the maze, but you've saved me the job. Quite amazing. Now, go get lost!"
The maze, on 32 acres next to the Grimston Bar park-and-ride, is off the A64 on the A1079 Hull Road. It will be open daily from Saturday, 10am to 7pm, with last admission at 5pm. Entry costs £5.95 for adults and £4.95 for children. Under-threes can get in free
