Pinewood shares extend falls despite James Bond role
Shares in British film studio Pinewood Shepperton extended falls in relatively high volume on Thursday despite recent confirmation the firm will host the next James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig - reports
Reuters.
The shares have fallen around 14 percent since mid-June when Pinewood, which has a specially-made Bond stage, said a delay to the start of some films contracted to the studio would hit group revenues in 2007.
Shooting on the next Bond movie, one of the biggest film franchises in Hollywood history is expected to start at Pinewood at the end of the year ahead of a release in late 2008.
English actor Craig will return to the role of the agent code named 007 after playing him in "Casino Royale".
At 1040 GMT, Pinewood's shares were down 4.7 percent at 240 pence, making the company one of the worst-performing media stock in Europe. Just over 338,000 shares had changed hands, well above recent average daily volume of around 20,000.
Analysts said given the stock's illiquid nature it can move markedly in relatively low market volume.
The film and television studio said on Wednesday it would host production of the 22nd Bond movie at its Buckinghamshire film studios near London.
Marc Forster, behind movies such as the Oscar-winning "Monster's Ball, "Stranger Than Fiction" and "The Kite Runner" will direct the next as-yet unnamed Bond movie.
He will start work shortly with screenwriter Paul Haggis on a draft of the Bond screenplay by Neil Purvis and Robert Wade, Pinewood said.
