Pilot killed at UK air show was stuntman on `Tomorrow Never Dies`

17-Sep-2007 • Bond News

A pilot killed when his World War Two plane crashed at an air show was a James Bond stuntman, it emerged yesterday.

Brian Brown, 50, appeared in Tomorrow Never Dies and was one of the world’s top fliers - reports The Sun.

He died when his Hurricane crashed in front of horrified crowds at Shoreham Air Show in West Sussex. Brian managed an airfield at Breighton, West Yorks, home to the Real Aeroplane Company, which puts on vintage plane displays across the country.

Taff Smith, 60, the company’s chief pilot, said yesterday: “He was a very experienced pilot, solid and reliable. It is an incredibly sad loss.

“He was a very well respected display pilot who performed at top air shows all over the country.” Brian, who lived with partner Eileen Evans in Barnby Dun, South Yorks, flew in the jet sequences in Tomorrow Never Dies. He was also in the World War One film Fly Boys and appeared on TV as the Red Baron.

Civil Aviation Authority investigators are examining the wreck.
