Sir Roger Moore makes heartfelt appeal to Turkish government

04-Nov-2007 • Actor News

Taking his role as a Unicef ambassador a great deal more seriously than he took James Bond, Sir Roger Moore, listened attentively to a fellow passenger on a flight to Budapest last week who told him of the bloodshed likely to ensue if Turkey launched military strikes against the Kurdish area of Iraq - reports the Telegraph.

The man, himself a Kurd, appealed to Sir Roger to champion his cause, and, as good as his word, he is to make a heartfelt appeal to the Turkish government.

"It saddens me greatly to think that we are poised for another Darfur," the actor will say in an open letter. "As a Unicef ambassador and a concerned human being, I humbly appeal to the Turkish government to think about the consequences of any actions that will adversely affect these innocent children."
