Colin Salmon has Dame Judi Dench as a fan of his trumpet playing

Dame Judi Dench is not just a fan of her former MI6 co-star Colin Salmon’s acting.

She has, the Daily Express hears, block-booked a table for herself and other James Bond film actors at this year’s Cheltenham Jazz Festival to watch Colin demonstrate the other string to his bow – jazz trumpet playing.

Colin, 45, best known for playing the Chief of Staff to Judi’s M in the three of Pierce Brosnan's 007 films, is an accomplished trumpeter and has already played to audiences in his spare time at London’s Dorchester hotel.

A generous Dame Judi has, at £75 a head, reserved a table for four Bond cast members at the art deco Daffodil Restaurant in Cheltenham on May 2 to see Colin.

“Dame Judi is a massive supporter of the Cheltenham festival,” reveals our girl tapping her toes. “I’m sure it must be extra special this year as she gets to see her right-hand man playing a set.”

Which girl wouldn’t want to see handsome Colin showing off his skills?

Colin Salmon will be playing on May 2nd at 7.30pm in The Daffodil.
