TWINE director Michael Apted honoured with CMG from Queen Elizabeth II

14-Jun-2008 • Bond News

Queen Elizabeth II's Birthday Honours List contains a CMG for director Michael Apted, who directed the 1999 James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough".

This makes him a Commander of The Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George which is a British order of chivalry founded on 28 April 1818 by George, Prince Regent (later George IV) whilst he was acting as Prince Regent for his father, George III. It is named in honour of two military saints, St. Michael and St. George.

Coincidentally, Ian Fleming's spy, James Bond, was fictionally decorated with the CMG in 1953 (mentioned in the novel From Russia with Love).
