Dame Shirley Bassey determined to perform at Nelson Mandela`s concert

Dame Shirley Bassey, who still recovering from stomach surgery at her home in Monaco, has said that she is "absolutely determined" to perform at Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday concert in Hyde Park on June 27 - reports The Telegraph.

Her friend Liz Brewer says the plan is for Dame Shirley to arrive in London next week to prepare for the show.

Certainly the Dame will be needed to raise the tone of the event. The organisers have threatened to allow performances from Amy Winehouse (drugs and alcohol permitting), the Sugababes and Simple Minds.
