Sony Pictures to be long term partner for James Bond franchise

07-Aug-2008 • Bond News

In breaking news that runs contrary to previous industry reports, it appears that Sony Pictures will be a long term partner for the James Bond franchise.

Sony stepped in to 007's affairs when the company were part of a group that purchased MGM back in 2004. The new partnership with EON Productions struck gold with the blockbuster 2006 outing "Casino Royale" starring Daniel Craig. Since then, reports have indicated that MGM would return to control the Bond series for the 23rd film (which follows "Quantum of Solace").

But according to a news leak on a future TV commercial, Sony Pictures will be around for a lot longer...

Daniel Craig reportedly shot a TV commercial for Sony Pictures on the set of the latest James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" that will highlight Sony Pictures' role as long term commercial partner and distributor of the film franchise.

The television commercial will be released around the time of "Quantum of Solace" opening in theatres worldwide. The spot will not promote Sony products.

London based agency Fallon are understood to be producing the advert.
