Dunhill launch 007 styled advert with Bond finalist Henry Cavill

09-Aug-2008 • Actor News

Dunhill have launched a television commercial campaign for their new 'London' fragrance with actor Henry Cavill.

The name will be familiar to fans who followed the casting of the sixth James Bond back in 2005. Cavill, an actor from the Channel Islands, was one of the three finalists who screentested in Pinewood Studios. The other two contenders were Australian actor Sam Worthington and Daniel Craig.

Aside from using a 007-contender, the new Dunhill advert takes more than a few themes from the 2006 blockbuster "Casino Royale", complete with loosened bow-tie, blue-hues similar to the film's poster, and a huge Union Jack.

The 40-second advert gives Bond fans a little hint as to what things could be like had Cavill won the role.

David Arnold, who scored the screentests, said Craig's competitors "were terrific, but very different. Henry Cavill was more traditional and Sam Worthington was very young. But I think Barbara Broccoli had her eye on Daniel for a long time."

The music for the Dunhill spot was produced by Adelphoi Music Ltd.

Former James Bond actors Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan were all seriously considered for the 007 role years ahead of them ultimately slipping in to the famous tuxedo. So in a few years time, when Daniel Craig decides to holster the PPK, do not be surprised if Cavill is back in the frame.

Thanks to `Phil` for the alert.
