Bond film composer David Arnold given award

The composer of the music for the most recent James Bond films is to return to his home town of Luton to receive an honorary degree, reports the BBC.

David Arnold, who is best known for scoring five James Bond films and the hit film Independence Day, will receive the award from Bedfordshire University.

He is to be given the award on Thursday for his outstanding contribution to the film and television industry.

He will also be commended for his work with aid agency Care International.

The ceremony at St Mary's Church in Luton will take place at 1400 GMT.

Ann Keen MP, a parliamentary under secretary at the Department of Health, will also receive an honorary degree.

She will receive the award on Friday in recognition of her nursing and political career and her commitment to improving people's health and wellbeing.

Prior to the ceremony, Ms Keen will officially open the university's new nursing centre at Butterfield Park campus.
