Daniel Craig joins the birthday card battle to beat cancer
James Bond has taken a break from spy-catching to help a Merseyside cancer charity raise vital funds, reports the
Liverpool Echo.
Wirral 007 star Daniel Craig is the latest name to send North West Cancer Research Fund a birthday card to mark its 60th anniversary.
Chief executive Anne Jackson said the greetings penned by Craig and a host of other stars from the worlds of entertainment, politics and sport would be auctioned to raise money for cancer research.
She said: âItâs a huge boost to have a star of his calibre support our campaign, especially at a time when he is so busy being James Bond.â
Daniel Craig joins Conservative and Liberal Democrat party leaders David Cameron and Nick Clegg, comedian Paul OâGrady, Olympic gold medallist Colin Jackson and Merseybeat star Gerry Marsden as some of those who have already made a contribution to the NWCRF Birthday Card campaign.
The organisation has recruited a team of 60 of the leading experts in their fields in a collective effort to find the causes of and cures for different types of cancer.
They are based at a specialist unit in Liverpool University.
