Salma Hayek to team up with Pierce Brosnan on `After the Sunset` - the potential Die Another Day combo is realised
Salma Hayek is in talks to topline After the Sunset at New Line Cinema, opposite Pierce Brosnan - according to Variety.
Bond fans may remember the story
MI6 broke back on 2nd January 2002, when we revealed that Salma Hayek had performed screentests to play a leading role in Bond 20. A world-wide
media frenzy ensued, before Halle Berry was eventually announced as `Jinx` 10 days later.
Hayek was screentested by Colin Salmon (MI6 aide Charles Robinson in "Tomorow Never Dies", "The World Is Not Enough" and "Die Another Day"), who played the role of James Bond for the producers.
"Salma Hayek was great", he said, after they played out the famous scene where Tatiana Romanova seduces 007 in his hotel room in "From Russia With Love".
The story of "After The Sunset" begins where most heist movies end, with the master thief (Brosnan) sailing off to the tropics after his last big haul. Soon, though, island life is boring him witless, and when his careerlong pursuer, an FBI agent, shows up to make sure the thief is really retired, an unlikely friendship and more thievery begins.
The script by Paul Zbyszewski has been rewritten by Chris Rosenberg. John Stockwell is set to direct.
