David Bowie talks about turning down being a Bond villain and the offer of a song
David Bowie revealed his past history with Bond at a question and answer session in Riverside Studios, Hammersmith for the launch of his new album today.
Bowie, 56, told fans and press that he once turned down the role of being a Bond villain. Although he did not mention it by name, he was referring to "A View To A Kill" which reportedly suffered late budget cuts and casting changes.
As well as saying he did not like the Bond films, he revealed he also turned down the offer of performing an opening theme:
"I was asked to do both, but to be honest I haven`t watched a James Bond film since Sean Connery was in them. I don`t really like them."
Oscar winner Christopher Walken took the role of Max Zorin, and Duran Duran ultimately recorded the theme song for "A View To A Kill", Roger Moore`s final outing as 007.
