Peter Hunt dies aged 74

17-Aug-2002 • Bond News

August 14th 2002 was a sad day for the Bond family as it saw the passing of Peter Hunt.

Born on 11th March 1928, Peter Roger Hunt will be best remembered for his work on the early Bond films. He began by editing Dr. No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger before becoming supervising editor on Thunderball and You Only Live Twice.

1969 saw Hunt`s most memorable work as he took the directors chair for On Her Majesty`s Secret Service. He will be remembered for bringing a unique feel to the film, which he was once caught saying "would be the best Bond ever if Connery had done it". Many fans still regard it as one of the best films in the series, even though Bond actor Lazenby was dropped in favour of a returning Connery in Diamonds Are Forever.

Hunt passed away at his home in Santa Monica, California.
