Stolen DB7 accident kills woman - Aston Martin crime spree continues

22-Nov-2003 • Bond News

A stolen Aston Martin DB7 was involved in a crash this morning in which an elderly woman died, police say.

The accident follows a similar incident earlier this month where a group of stolen Aston Martin`s - including a "Die Another Day" Vanquish - were taken in a raid which resulted in a 120mph chase through London.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after the black Aston Martin crashed with a blue Nissan Micra at the junction of Southborough Rd and Woodside Rd in Bromley, about 11.30 today. Dozens of police cars joined the chase to catch the four Aston Martins. They gave chase and pursued the car at speeds of up to 120mph along the A20 towards London.

This latest crash happened just an hour after the Aston Martin, registration S172 KLX, was stolen from outside the Othello Restaurant in Greenwich.

Two elderly women in the Micra were both injured in the crash, and the passenger in the car later died.

Police said the driver of the stolen Aston Martin left the scene of the crash on foot.

He was last seen heading down Southborough Rd toward Crown Lane, and is described as a white man, aged between 18 and 20 years old, wearing blue jogging bottoms and a white top.

"Police are actively looking for the suspect. No arrests have been made," a statement from the Met said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 020 8284 5988 and their call will be dealt with in the strictest confidence, or they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
