The Greek defender, who was expected to complete a transfer Wednesday to the Glasgow club, was picked up Tuesday by former James Bond actor Sean Connery and flown on his private jet to Scotland.
The two clubs agreed on a transfer fee estimated at 1.75 million pounds.
Rangers chairman David Murray said manager Alex McLeish had been watching Kyrgiakos for a year.
Kyrgiakos played against Rangers last season in the Champions League but was injured and missed out on Greece's 2004 European championship.
